Anniversary Jam - Friday, August 29th

A quick reminder to everyone that the Lowcountry Blues Club will be celebrating it's first anniversary by having a special, all-star jam on Friday, August 29th. The jam will start at 8PM at A Dough Re Mi and will be free for all Lowcountry Blues Club members (bring your membership card).

In addition to our awesome core jam band -- Tommy Thunderfoot, Craig The Monstah, and Greg The Motor -- we will be having a few special guests join us as well. Hitman from Savannah and Jeff Norwood from the upstate will be adding their talents to the mix. And we hope that all of you will bring your skills and your instruments and join in the musical celebration as well.

It's been a great first year for the Lowcountry Blues Club and we're getting the second year kicked off right with this jam. Thank you all for supporting us and supporting the Blues in the Charleston area.

See you on Friday night!

New Board Of Directors And Officers Elected

I am pleased to announce that last night at the business meeting, the Lowcountry Blues Club elected a new Board of Directors and Officers. With this election, I have to say that the club is in good hands and should experience a great year under their guidance and leadership.

During the meeting, the club took a vote and decided that the best course of action would be to elected a Board of Directors and that the newly elected the Board of Directors would then elect three Officers for the club from the Board's membership. The Officers elected were President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

In alphabetical order by last name, the elected Board of Directors and Officers are:

Tommy Bright
Craig Campany
Greg Cooper
Chip Hall - President
Greg Hutson - Treasurer
Rob Lowe
Tim Shaw
Lua Wells - Secretary

All of these people have been great supporters of the Lowcountry Blues Club for the past year, represent a good mix of musicians and fans, and all have great ideas and valuable input about the club and the direction it should take in the coming year.

In addition to electing Officers, the new Board also requested that some additional club members serve as non-voting advisers to the Board. Dereck Curry was asked to serve as an adviser and to continue the work as website administrator; Kathleen Wehle was asked to serve as an adviser and continue her work as writer and editor of the newsletter; Tanner Cooper and Sammy Derrick were also asked to serve as youth advisers. The Board may request additional advisers in the future and may create committees as necessary to conduct club business.

The newly elected Board and Officers changes were effective last night at the time of election, and all of the elected are now serving in their respective positions.

Thanks to all the members who attended the meeting last night. Thank you for your input. Thank you for your votes. And thank you for the support.

So join with me in welcoming our new Board of Directors and our Officers. It is going to be an amazing year.

The Lowcountry Blues Club Turns 1 - Business Meeting - New Mailing List - Anniversary Jam

It's hard to believe, but the Lowcountry Blues Club turns 1 this month!

And it has been an amazing year!

And it has been amazing thanks to you!

So, thank you for making this club a reality, and thank you for supporting it every week for the past year.

And we're going to celebrate our turning one on Friday, August 29th with a very special anniversary blues jam at A Dough Re Mi. Like all of our jams, the thing is scheduled to start at 8PM. Unlike our Tuesday night jams, there is a cover charge, but not for Lowcountry Blues Club members. Members get in free to this jam.

In addition to the great talent that is the Lowcountry Blues Club jam band, we have a few guests stopping on the anniversary jam to celebrate with us. Hitman from Savannah, and Jeff Norwood from the upstate. Both of these guys are dynamic blues musicians have taken part in jams in the past, and we're glad to have them back again.

We've only done a handful of Friday night jams in the past and they've always turned out to be monsters. I have reason to doubt that this one won't be one to tell the grandkids about.

And if you haven't been to one of our jams, what's stopping you. Every Tuesday night, we throw it down at A Dough Re Mi and remind this town what live music is all about. There is no doubt in my mind that we have the best musicians in this town who stop by and play with us. And if you are a musician, you should too.

Because we're hitting the anniversary mark, we have some official business to take care of. On Tuesday, August 26th, we're holding a business meeting at 8PM at A Dough Re Mi. At this meeting we have official club business and the meeting will only be open to club members. In particular, we need to elect officers for the upcoming year. We need to vote in a President, a Treasurer, and a Secretary. In addition, we need to elect a governing board. So make certain you stop by to cast your vote and have your voice be heard.

On a final note, we are going to be changing how our mailing list is going to be handled. We've grown so large that it isn't cost effective to keep our current provider, and it is getting difficult to send out the weekly newsletter because of the size of the list. Unfortunately, we don't have a good way to just move everyone over with the new mailing list provider. So if you want to keep receiving the club emails, visit the website below and enter your email address in the blue box on the right hand side of the page. Or just send an email to lowcountrybluesclub@gmail.com and let us know that you want to keep receiving these emails.

Here's the page for the new email signup: http://lowcountrybluesclub.blogspot.com/

Well that's about it for this week. Looking forward to the upcoming year with all of you.

And don't forget the Lowcountry Blues Club is a blues society that accepts membership. Dues are annual dues and run $10 for a person, $25 for a family, $25 for a band, and $100 for a company.
