Charleston’s First Family of the Blues is expanding. The next generation is on the way! Go on out to Smokey’s Place this Friday to congratulate Jojo and Michelle. While you’re there, don’t forget Momma and Poppa – it’s they’re 39th anniversary. To add to the festive atmosphere, they’ll also celebrating keyboard extraordinaire, Big Daddy Dale’s wedding anniversary to his bride, Paula. It truly is a family!

Taylor-made Music!
South Carolina’s own Allyson Taylor will be making a couple local stops this week while on tour with her New York based band. You may remember her from her visits to Wednesday night blues jams. You also may know her from her work with Victor Wooten or know her from her songs that have been recorded by the likes of Bryan White and Alison Krauss. None other than J.R. Getches calls her an “incredible singer and songwriter” and says that “you owe it to yourself to see her”. I couldn’t agree more!

Music Event Season is here!
It's premier week for 3 special musical events (Summer must be here!). Max wants you to be sure that you check out the Roots of Jazz Festival Saturday that will feature Lonnie Hamilton, Oscar Rivers, Ann Caldwell and many more. Sunday night is the first "Sunday Sessions" at the Surf Bar on Folly. It's organized and hosted by Young-Mi . This week, witness special collaborations featuring Sarah Cole, Tyler Boone, Scott Bucholtz, Stratton Moore, Whitt Algar, Ryan Bonner and many more. Then, on Wednesday, it's the Premier of the Charleston Blues Revue dinner show at Mad River. Louie D is the musical director. The show brings to life the story of the Blues, from the Delta up through today. All three events are highlighted below:
