More weekend events

Hi All --

Here are a couple more options for your weekend. On Friday night (May 29th) in addition to the shows we've already mentioned, you have an event at the Village Tavern. The info I got suggested that the time would be 8-11 pm, and that first Deborah Hudson would play, then White Rhino, then Makeshift, all for a $5 cover.

And on Saturday night the 30th, Red House will play their last show -- it's at the Oasis, 9pm, $5 for 21 and over, $8 for the under 21 set.

Just in case you needed more options. . .

This weekend's events in Charleston

It's Kathleen again, and these the weekend's events in Charleston.

Jeff Norwood will be playing this afternoon, Thursday, May 28, at the Mad River Grille, starting at 4pm.

Friday, May 29th, is full of activity, in any part of town. A Dough Re Mi features Campfield at 9:30pm, with a $5 cover.

Dan Wright, our Jam Master, will be playing at Abe's Oyster House in an acoustic duo with Tim Hodson.

Skye Paige will be on the Bridge 105.5 on Friday afternoon, May 29th, with Smoky Weiner. That night, she will be performing in another project, Bizarro Burlesque, with the HellBlinki Sextet at the Tin Roof, at 9pm.

In my last post, I mentioned Shrimp City Slim has a Blues n' BBQ cruise on the Carolina Belle, with food provided by HomeTeam BBQ, tonight as well. The boat casts off around 6:30pm.

Lastly, Jeff Norwood is playing at the Blind Tiger Pub, starting at 7:30pm. Blind Tiger is on Broad Street, between where East Bay and Meeting intersect.

On Saturday, May 30th, Shrimp City Slim reunites with Blue Light Special for the first time in 20 years. The cover for that show is $15, it starts at 8pm and runs until 11. Click the following link to go to the Piccolo site for tickets.

That same night, Jojo Wall will be performing solo at the Blind Tiger Pub, the show starts at 7:30. Jeff Norwood is playing at the Dockside Lounge on Edisto Beach, starting at 9pm.

On Sunday, May 31, as part Mudcat n' Mama, Skye will be performing with Mudcat at Bowen's Island. Admission is $15, the show runs 4-7pm. For tickets, click Piccolo Spoleto, go to the Gailliard Box office, or pay the day of the show at Bowens.

Looking into next week, there is our Jam on Tuesday, the Bowens jam Wednesday, and the TWS Jam in Summerville on Thursday. Also on Thursday, June 4th, Dan will be playing with Tim Hodson at Henry's.

On a sidenote, I stumbled on an awesome web application called groover, spelled phonetically: gruvr, with an umlaut (aka "those dots") over the u. If you go there, the site can tell you shows happening in your town, superimposed on a map. Type in a band name in the user field, it can tell you when, and where, a few clicks will show you how to get there.

Until next time, whatever you do this weekend, have fun and be safe...

More music info

Hi All --

I was interrupted mid-post last Wednesday by an unexpected phone call, and ran out of time to include everything I wanted to. So here's a little more info on this week's activities now. Because of Spoleto and Piccolo, there's just a LOT of stuff going on. So be sure you go to www.piccolospoleto.com for all the info on these events. Skye Paige also sent us some info as follows: she will be on Lowcountry Live on Tues May 26 and at Mad River 4-7 pm, also on the 26th. She's also on the Bridge on May 27th with her band The Recipe, and on the Bridge on May 29th with Smoky Weiner.

I mentioned the recurring events: every Tues night jam at A Dough Re Mi, every Weds at Awendaw Green (awendawgreen.com) or the jam at Bowens Island (which starts at 8:30, $3, hosted by Smoky Weiner). Add to that your every Thurs night option at Summerville's Time Well Spent Tearoom with Tim Shaw and Friends.

I'm hurrying off to work, so you'll get next weekend's activities in the next post. Have fun in the meantime!

Hi all -

Just a quick reminder of some great choices for music this weekend, mostly things we mentioned in our previous post. Friday night the 8th has Skye Paige doing her blues and rockabilly thing, opening for Dash Rip Rock at Home Team BBQ in West Ashley, starting 9ish. Saturday has the Kiawah Blues Fest organized by Gary Erwin from 2-8pm at Freshfields Village, then either Wyatt Garey's birthday bash at A Dough Re Mi, starting 9ish, or if you're up for a road trip, then head for Myrtle Beach to see Tommy Thunderfoot and the Accelerators play, details at Houseofblues.com, or get your free tickets from Tommy himself! So go somewhere, and have some fun!! And come to the blues jam at A Dough Re Mi next Tuesday, and every Tuesday, always a good choice.
