Also, on Thursday, April 5, at 9pm at The Brick: The Kilborn Alley Blues Band, a ferocious young band in the Chicago blues tradition, receiving unprecedented attention for their song writing and performing, will play a special performance at The Brick, 213 East Bay Street. They sent us this info:

The band's new album, entitled FOUR, was number one on blues radio in the U.S. in December 2011, according to the prestigious LIVING BLUES magazine; in February the album was the number one "Pick to Click" on the BB King's Bluesville service of Sirius radio. With the youngest members just turned thirty, the band has received an astonishing three Blues Music Award nominations (2007, 2008, 2011), the highest international awards in blues music.

Kilborn Alley features the great guitar playing long associated with the blues, but is especially known for the soulful singing of Andrew Duncanson who has been repeatedly described as among the very best living blues singers. This is a band that get a whole room of people on their feet dancing, and even singing along. Kilborn Alley stomps out songs such as "I'm Spent," "Watch It," and "'Rents House Boogie," and catches audiences by surprise with their combo-sized soul as in their slow burner "Better Off Now." That last song was named the "Best Blues Song of 2010" by BLUES BLAST magazine. For more information on Kilborn Alley see http://www.kilbornalley.com. They were also a 2011 Blues Music Award Nominee for Best Band.
