Here are the blues events this week and weekend in Charleston.
Wednesday, July 22nd, the Awendaw Green Barn Jam features Slanguage, Deborah Hudson, Rova Zetella, Trouble in Transit, Come On Go With Us. The show starts at 7pm. Don't forget, Wednesdays are also the Bowens Island Jam with Smoky Weiner and Friends.
Thursday, July 23rd, Jojo Wall will play solo at BuddyRoe's Shrimp Shack at 8:30pm. If you are not familiar with where BuddyRoe's is now, it is the bright coral building off of Ben Sawyer Blvd., behind the mini-golf course. Thursday night is also the Time Well Spent TeaRoom Jam in Summerville with TWS and Friends.

Lastly, Jeff Norwood is playing at the Dockside Beach on Edisto Island. The show starts at 9pm.

This weekend's events in Charleston...
On Friday, July 10, Dan Wright and Tim Hodson with be performing with a full band at Kickin' Chicken in Mt. Pleasant, the show starts at 9:00pm.
On Saturday, July 11, Dan Wright and Tim Hodson with be performing with a full band at Necter on James Is., the show starts at 9pm. Saturday is also the start of Grass on the Green, a 2-day event at Awendaw Green, starting at 12:00pm and running until 10:00pm both days. This is a bluegrass and Americana music event benefitting the Windwood Home for Boys and Pet Helpers. Some of the GotG acts include: Emily Lynch, The Red Top Ramblers, Kurly Wolf, The Classic Woodies, Lauren Bevins, Mark Bryan (of Hootie), Triple Lindy, Ed Hunnicutt, Emily Lynch, Mac Leaphart, and the Kentucky Shoes. PS--Shrimp has no dates locally--he is appearing upstate and then headed to Poland. That oughta be cool enough, and not just for the blues and jazz!

Friday, June 26th, Dan Wright will be playing with Soul Captive at Centre Point Grill in North Charleston. Skye Paige and Bizarro Burlesque will perform with the Sandanistas at Charleston Calling at the Music Farm, Downtown.
Saturday, June 27th, there is a Sea Turtle Benefit at Awendaw Green, featuring Jeff Norwood, the Whisperjets, Webb Wilder & the Beatnecks, and Holy Ghost Tent Revival.
Jeff Liberty is playing at Morgan Creek Grill, on the IOP, starting at 6pm.
Kings of Thieves will play at O'Malleys, this may be John Shafer's last show with the band.
Tommy Thunderfoot will be at "McHalestock" at McHale's in Fort Mill, SC, it runs 3-11 p.m.
The address is at 1820 Gold Hill Rd., Fort Mill SC 29708, 803-548-2151. There is not information about a cover charge at this time. There 6 featured bands- Category 5 blues band, Michael Wolf and the Voodoo Brothers, The Mudbucket Blues Band, The Ned Lucas Band, Jake Haldenwang & Hwy 61, and of course, Tommy Thunderfoot and the Accelerators.
Skye Paige, as part of the Bizarro Twins, will open with Hypnosquad for featured act Southern Culture on the Skids (SCoTS) at Halligans in West Ashley. You may remember SCoTS from the 90s for local faves like "Soul City" and "Camel Walk".
Sunday, June 28th ColeTrain is playing at Village Tavern, starting at 9:30pm.

This Week and this Weekend's Shows...
Good evening, Blues Club fans. Here's a rundown of this weekend's events.
Tommy Thunderfoot will be playing Thursday, June 11th, at the Fleet Landing (Downtown, near Concord and Cumberland), starting at 10pm. Shrimp City Slim has a harbor tour aboard the Carolina Belle, with food provided by HomeTeam BBQ. Get your more information and tickets here.

Earlier that night, Shrimp City Slim will be playing at Freshfields Village from 6-9pm, outside. Freshfields has other music coming all summer long, so stayed tuned. If you go, be sure to bring a folding chair, maybe some sunscreen and bug spray, too.

Jeff Norwood will be playing this afternoon, Thursday, May 28, at the Mad River Grille, starting at 4pm.
Friday, May 29th, is full of activity, in any part of town. A Dough Re Mi features Campfield at 9:30pm, with a $5 cover.
Dan Wright, our Jam Master, will be playing at Abe's Oyster House in an acoustic duo with Tim Hodson.
Skye Paige will be on the Bridge 105.5 on Friday afternoon, May 29th, with Smoky Weiner. That night, she will be performing in another project, Bizarro Burlesque, with the HellBlinki Sextet at the Tin Roof, at 9pm.
In my last post, I mentioned Shrimp City Slim has a Blues n' BBQ cruise on the Carolina Belle, with food provided by HomeTeam BBQ, tonight as well. The boat casts off around 6:30pm.
Lastly, Jeff Norwood is playing at the Blind Tiger Pub, starting at 7:30pm. Blind Tiger is on Broad Street, between where East Bay and Meeting intersect.
On Saturday, May 30th, Shrimp City Slim reunites with Blue Light Special for the first time in 20 years. The cover for that show is $15, it starts at 8pm and runs until 11. Click the following link to go to the Piccolo site for tickets.

This Weekend's Events in Charleston
The weather heats up and so does the schedule as we get closer to Spoleto...
Tonight is Shrimp City Slim, 4-7pm at Mad River Grille, Downtown at the corner of East Bay and Market (the Chapel building).
The weekly Wed. jam at Bowens, and the Thurs. jam in Summerville's Time Well Spent Tearoom are scheduled.
On Thursday, the 14th, is Tommy Thunderfoot and Jojo Wall at the Fleet Landing, starting at 10pm.
Friday, the 15th, Jojo Wall will be playing solo at the Blind Tiger Pub starting at 7:30pm. It is Downtown on Broad Street, between E. Bay and Meeting.
Also on Friday, A Dough Re Mi will feature the rock act Henry's Attic, starting at 9pm. Their
lead singer has come to the Jam several times, and several of their songs show New Orleans influences.
Saturday night, May 16th, at Halligans (near where 526 connects to Savannah Highway), there is a triple act show: Concrete Jumpsuit, Malfunktion Junktion, and Kings of Thieves. It will start at 7pm and going strong until 1am. Our favorite, Kings of Thieves, is scheduled to start at 9pm.
Also on Saturday is Christopher Dean at the Hometeam BBQ on Sullivan's Island.
[From what I could tell, the SI location schedule isn't ready yet on the HomeTeam website, give it a few days.]
Monday, May 18th, Shrimp City Slim will perform 4-7pm at Mad River Grille. He will also perform there Wednesday, May 20th from 4-7pm as well.

Mighty Rushing Wind, Jeff Norwood, Skye Paige, Dan Wright Trio, Lowcountry Blues Club
Allstars, and the Wyatt Garey Band. It is sponsored by: Awendaw Green & Suncoast Productions.
Jeff Norwood has another show that night, at the Blind Tiger Pub, 7:30pm.

Upcoming Shows
We have another great weekend of shows lined up around the area:
Kicking things off first on Thursday night will be TWS & Friends at Wing Time in North Charleston. You all Tim Shaw as a Lowcountry Blues Club regular guitar player and occasional singer. My sources tell me that TWS & Friends stole the show at the Trident United Way Battle Of Bands, and Tim steals the show at our jams as well. So you should stop by and check them out doing their mix of blues rock, country rock, and classic rock.
Then, Steve & The Stilettos will be taking the stage at The Mill Friday night, starting around 9:30 PM. Stop by and see these veteran blues musicians do their thing. What's more, their driving rhythm section is none other than our Greg and Mark on drums and bass. That alone is worth seeing on any night. Add Steve on vocal and guitar and Joel on harmonica and you have a blues powerhouse.
Also on Friday, Tommy Thunderfoot & The Accelerators travel up to Sumter to deliver the blues to our friends in the midstate. This time, The Accelerators include Tanner on drums and JoJo on bass. Stone Cold Sarah Cool will also be there, adding her blues diva stylings to the rockin' blues mix. The shows at Legacies in Sumter are becoming legendary in their own right.
Then on Saturday, Tommy and gang are sticking around Sumter and playing at Pizza Lane as part of a benefit show. Our friend Jeff Norwood is also playing there on Saturday. You know when you get Tommy and Jeff together, those boys just gotta throw down and deliver a good show.
Speaking of people named Jeff, our friend Jeff Liberty will be playing on Saturday at Whaley's on Edisto Island. If your down that way, stop in and see him do his thing. He's got a great band and Jeff always delivers to the crowd like it was a stadium full of people. Greasy, gritty blues - just the way we like it.
Getting around to Tuesday, we have the weekly Lowcountry Blues Club jam at A Dough Re Mi. If you haven't been by lately, you should stop in and see why this one of the best nights of music in the state!
And on Wednesday, don't forget that our friend Larry McCray will be a the Pour House.

He's got a great band and Jeff always delivers to the crowd like it was a stadium full of people. Greasy, gritty blues - just the way we like it.
Getting around to Tuesday, we have the weekly Lowcountry Blues Club jam at A Dough Re Mi. If you haven't been by lately, you should stop in and see why this one of the best nights of music in the state!
And on Wednesday, don't forget that our friend Larry McCray will be a the Pour House.
I hope I haven't forgotten anyone, but this weekend is shaping up as another great weekend of blues music in the region.

Upcoming Shows - 17 October 2008
Got another great week of music ahead.
Kicking things off on Friday night is Hitman at A Dough Re Mi. If you haven't seen Hitman before, then you are missing one of the best blues guitar players in the Southeast. Think Hendrix, Think Clapton, Think Johnson, and roll them all up into one dynamo and you have Hitman.
Then on Saturday, the Lowcountry Blues Club songwriting competition takes place at A Dough Re Mi. If you haven't signed up already, please get in touch with Tommy Thunderfoot (www.tommythunderfoot.net) and let him know that you to compete. The winners this week will play a paid gig next week at A Dough Re Mi.
Also this weekend is Rockoberfest at Awendaw Green on Saturday and Sunday. Among the few dozen acts scheduled to play, at least three acts that are blues club veterans will be taking the festival by storm - Allnightkungfu, Jeff Norwood, and Slanguage.
In addition, if you just happen to be in Macau, China this weekend, stop by and say hi to Shrimp City Slim at the MacauSoul.

Upcoming Shows
Hey just a quick note to let everyone know about a few upcoming shows.
This is a great weekend for the Lowcountry Blues Club, because two of our friends will be playing this week. What's more, both of these great musicians were special guests at our anniversary show, so you all know how great they really are.
First, our friend from Savannah, Hitman, will be playing at A Dough Re Mi on Friday night. Hitman is pure electricity on the stage, and you'll swear he is the wild offspring of Hendrix and Clapton. This is a special price show for blues club members, so bring your membership card and get a discount at the door.
Then on Saturday night, Jeff Norwood will be playing at A Dough Re Mi. Jeff is a disciple of the hill country blues, and this is a special free show to make up for the cancellation of his band Decoration Day thanks to Tropical Storm Hanna. Well the entire band can't make it this weekend, but Jeff will be here. Also, Jeff is a generous guy with his stage time and loves a good jam. So he and Tommy Thunderfoot are asking folks to bring their gear and jam along. This isn't an official Lowcountry Blues Club jam, but let's come and give Jeff a big LBC welcome.
