Do You Hear What I Hear?

Do you hear what I hear?

You’ve all heard this traditional Christmas song. Did you know that it was written as a plea for peace during the Cuban Missile Crisis?

All politics and religion aside, it’s always interesting (and often educational) to research where a song came from. What the history, motivation and thought process was that went into creating the work of art. Once it is shared, it often takes on new meaning via individual interpretations. That’s the beauty of it!

Do you hear what I hear? Do you feel what I feel? Does it matter?

Music: Make it - Play it - Share it - Give it. That’s what matters. Let the listener experience it and interpret it. What else can be so communal yet so individual? What else can communicate so much to so many? It is an amazing gift.

Give the gift. ‘Tis the season!

Happy Holidays!
