Happy Mardi Gras Week!

Well, the Blues Bash is over now - I hope you enjoyed some great shows. If you've still got some energy left, here's some of what's going on this weekend, highlighting Blues Club members and friends:

Friday:
Highway 17 Blues Band at Fat Boy’s Hog & Grog in Moncks Corner

Saturday:
The Dan Wright Trio is at Jon’s Mixed Drinks in Mount Pleasant (formerly the Village Tavern)
Mason Dixon w/ Scott Bucholtz at Fat Boy’s Hog & Grog in Moncks Corner
Starling w/ Captain Kirk is at Yellow Jackets in Moncks Corner
The Louie D Project w/ J.R. Getches are at Bucca’s Bar & Grill

Sunday:
Smokey’s Place Sports Bar & Grill at 1213 Remount Road in North Charleston hosts a weekly jam from 5 pm to 9 pm on Sundays, organized by Capt. Kirk. If you haven't already, please consider checking this out - there's a whole lot of fun and great music going on there!

And there's the regular Wednesday night jam at Home Team BBQ/West Ashley, 8pm - always lots of fun, as well.

In other news, we can be proud to know that the Charleston music scene is getting a lot of national attention lately. In case you haven't heard, Charleston's own Elise Testone is in the top 24 of American Idol contestants at the moment, and would love to have your support when the voting starts. Also, Charleston band The Explorers Club just came out with their second album, Grand Hotel, which is getting rave reviews from all over. Ryan Bonner also just released a cd, Think of England, which is really excellent. So check these guys out when you get a chance!

Reminders:

It's time to pay your Lowcountry Blues Club dues for 2012 if you haven't already. Just see Capt. Kirk at the jams. It's $10 for individuals, $25 for a family or band, and there are corporate options, too.

If you want to see your band's gigs in this newsletter, send all the details to lowcountrybluesclub@gmail.com, with "For the blog" as the subject line. We usually send out the newsletter on Thursday or Friday, so get the info in before Wednesday, please. Or just post to facebook directly!
